This one has to be a nod to you, …!
BTW, inc., I hope you won't be offended if I ask you a question about the Thai Food poem. It just occurred to me that if I hadn't written it myself, being chronically dyslexic as I am, I probably wouldn't have understood the poem because the point of it depends on the spelling of 3 words. Perhaps you overlooked them. The other possibility is that you were just being polite because you found the 'toilet humour' too infantile to be amusing. Just curious. :-)

If you refer to the teste kitchen bit? then yes i saw that, but alas see nothing odd about it, as if such climes they possibly do eat such things.
I know china has various resturants dedicated to such delicasies as the penis, of which they cook up just about any creatures parts that you care to mention.
I have to say the dyslexic thing doesn't appear to show up in your typing :)

and finally I really do like this one :)
maybe i'm biased, as i use the damn things far too much...

I can see how that cancels it. If they'll eat bloody anything...than all things are possible! Oh dear, maybe that's what they were serving.

I can see how people not aquainted with various oriental/asian dishes/delicasies would chuckle at the prik in the thai dish, maybe even taking it to mean bovine penis, but the people who'd find the moo prik bit funny might not grasp the meaning of teste :)

I have to confess my first reading didn't convey a humour of such level, as I honestly read it as factual, and secondly, I didn't think you'd go for low humour :)
It's my preconceptions of your christian based philanthropic nature :)
I know now (again) not to assume about people.
Pleasantly unexpected of you :)
I shall read your pieces with a slightly altered mindset from now on...

If I can occasionally be unexpected, I'd be pleased at that. As for Christianity...maybe part of the reason the West is so indifferent to Christ is the Sunday School image...so bland and predictable. I would suggest the Biblical Christ engages the whole gaumet of human experience, including humour. But there is a deeper sadder reason I think. Christians including me, have not really been as 'philanthropic' as they make out. The reasources are there to change the world. It is a betrayal of Christ. That too is predictable.

Well, in all honesty you can't just blame Christians for their lack of charity to others, it's pretty much 99.99% of the world, we have a tendancy to look after ourselves first, but never actually get round to helping others second...
I have to say I don't really partake of charitable causes, I rarely assist anyone now unless there may be future benifit for me and mine, I used to help random people and sure, i felt 'good' for a while(not that that is a valid reason for doing deeds), but was used and abuse once or twice to often, so hardened against others misfortunes.
I kinda wish I was inclinded to philanthropy...
As for the resource issue, well, not alot you and I can do about that, the wrong people are in charge...and I guess the wrong countries have access to the most useful stuff...on a cynical note why help a third world nation get some agriculture going and sanitation etc etc, ie a very basic, but slightly better, standard of existance, when you can buy another missile - just in case...

Estimated amount spent between October 1, 1992 and October 1, 1995 on nuclear testing activities: $1,200,000,000 (0 tests)
That much money spent on, well, nothing?!?!

What could you do with that amount of money??? Probably make the outback green...
or take back a chunk or ruined land in africa and make it fertile...

Estimated 1998 spending on all U.S. nuclear weapons and weapons-related programs: $35,100,000,000
This figure is 14 percent of all appropriated spending for "national defense."

Well, it's quite frankly obscene, and lets face it, they obviously need those bombs and guns and whatever...

I couldn't find any info on the UK's spending, not that I looked hard, and I don't really want to know, it'll be sickening as well.

Sorry, totally out of proportion to what was being said, and almost as if I'm using these figures as a reason for me personally not to help my fellow man...

I'm just too selfish these days, and goverments have always sucked.
Hell, that's life!
Maybe we'll change the world....next week...
